Exeter has plenty to do all year round. With a history that pre-dates the arrival of the Romans in AD50 Exeter’s history is rich and long, and this is reflected in its fascinating heritage attractions. Exeter’s location in the heart of Devon means the city is well placed to explore nearby coast and countryside, with good transport links to both.

Exeter Cathedral
Exeter Cathedral, properly known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter in Exeter, is an Anglican cathedral, and the seat of the Bishop of Exeter, in the city of Exeter, Devon, in South West England.
St Nicholas Priory
Exeter’s oldest building: where heritage, culture and creativity meet. Explore 900 years of Exeter’s history in the medieval priory turned Tudor home, and join us for our plays, concerts and events.
Exmouth beach
Exmouth is the western gateway to the Jurassic Coast. It lies on the east bank of the mouth of the River Exe, about 12 miles south east of Exeter. The town has been a popular seaside resort since the 18th century and is thought to be the oldest holiday resort in Devon. Exmouth beach has two miles of golden sand and a wealth of rock pools to explore, making it a paradise for children and families. It is also a popular destination for a variety of watersports including kite surfing, kayaking and windsurfing.

Over the years, we have found students like to get creative on the weekends. Exeter and the local area are probably one of the richest areas in England for the arts. Here are some of the Creative Moments we have organised for students. We will can always find a very special studio, kitchen, potters wheel or short course for you.

British Academy of Floral Art
The British Academy of Floral Art is a welcoming, friendly, award-winning flower arranging school with an international reputation and a nurturing, structured approach.
Exeter Phoenix
Exeter Phoenix, the home of creativity and culture in the city-centre, from gigs to galleries, cinema to performance and comedy to courses.


You can watch or participate in any sport in Exeter. The city has top tier Rugby and Football clubs with matches on weekends. It has facilities for every sport – some of these are shown below. Just ask and we will arrange for you.

Exeter Chiefs is an English professional rugby union club based in Exeter, Devon. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. The club was founded in 1871 and since 2006 has played its home matches at Sandy Park, a purpose built facility on the outskirts of the city.
Exeter City Football Club is a professional association football club based in Exeter, Devon, England. The team play in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. Known as the "Grecians", the origin of their nickname is subject to speculation and debate.
Hilltop Riding School offer qualified BHS instruction in a small and friendly atmosphere. Lovely horses and ponies suitable for all ages and standards.

Exeter Golf and Country Club is the longest running golf club in East Devon and is widely regarded as one of the best golf courses in the South West. The 120 acre parkland course has mature trees, tranquil water features, sculpted bunkers, perfectly manicured fairways and nurtured greens.
Yoga / Pilates
The Lotus Loft Yoga Centre is situated in the heart of Exeter on the top floor of a Georgian building overlooking the beautiful trees of Southernhay. Their passionate, experienced teachers offer a variety of Yoga, Pilates and Body Method classes in a friendly, welcoming and comfortable environment.

The Quay Climbing Centre is the South West’s largest indoor climbing centre! Located in the heart of Exeter’s Quayside, they have got some of the most extensive top rope and lead climbing in the South West, as well as bouldering and Clip ‘n Climb and a friendly team of instructors ready to welcome you to the centre.
Water sports
Saddles & Paddles is a unique independent business offering a great day out for those that love a little adventure and the great outdoors.  Hire a bike to pedal from the city to the seaside, or hire a boat and paddle to the pub! We offer easy, relaxing, outdoor fun for all ages. Choose from bikes, canoes, kayaks or ​Stand Up Paddleboards to explore the area.
National Parks
Dartmoor National Park - Wild, open moorlands and deep river valleys, with a rich history and rare wildlife. Exmoor National Park - A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years.
Coastal walking
With 19th century origins as a coastguard patrol route to restrict smuggling, the modern day South West Coast Path is England’s longest waymarked footpath. It runs for 630 miles, from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to the shores of Poole Harbour and offers the ultimate challenge for the long distance walker. But the path is not solely the domain of the endurance walker. Its various segments are enjoyed by many millions of visitors throughout the year, who come to marvel at the natural scenery on offer. This is the true wonder of the South West Coast Path; this single trail connects visitors with some of the finest coastal landscapes to be found anywhere in the world.
Saunton Sands, the place to go if you want to learn to surf. If you want a mellow wave to perfect your manoeuvres, this is where you go. Saunton is a vast expanse of sand that absorbs the crowds, offering a peak for everyone. Endless corduroy lines pour into this beach, making the most of any swell
